Andrew began the night setting quick time in group A and was overall 2nd fastest in qualifying. Starting the heat race in the 6th position, Kosiski had a major slip up on the first lap on the exit of turn two almost spinning out his All Makes Collision Center, Certified Transmission, Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53. Falling way behind the pack AK kept his foot on the gas working his way up through the field taking the 4th position on the white flag lap and narrowly edging out Robbie Andersen at the checkered flag to finish 3rd in the eight lap race.
The 15 lap qualifying feature began with some great racing at the drop of the green. Starting second row inside Andrew and Tad Pospisil raced side by side for the opening laps until it became a three car battle for second as they tried to pass polesitter JC Wyman on lap five. Kosiski took the advantage going into turn three but entered too hard causing him to push up the track allowing Pospisil to take the runner up spot coming off of turn four. Andrew then battled with Wyman for third until finally securing the spot on lap 8; finishing out the 15 lap race Andrew was able to cut some of the deficit to 2nd place Brian Kosiski but couldn’t get close enough.
“I had a really fast car all night that I wasn’t very happy with” said Kosiski. “We need to get this thing driving a little better.”
Saturday night’s $4000 to win finale at I-80 Speedway begins at 6pm.
