AK Finishes 9th in MLRA Tuesday Tickler
Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 made a rare Tuesday night appearance at the I-80 Speedway for the season opening Lucas Oil MLRA race. Kosiski started the 35 lap main event in the fifth position and brought home a respectable 9th place finish at the checkered flags.
Qualifying time trials were first to hit the track as Andrew set a lap of 16.889 seconds which was 3rd fastest in Group A and 5th fastest overall. That performance put Kosiski on the outside front row of the first heat race where he would finish in the second position behind California’s Jason Papich.
Starting inside third row of the 35 lap A main event, AK struggled on exit of turn two early on.
“I kept on hitting the slime in two” said Kosiski, “I was only making a good corner about one out of every four laps.”
By the fifth circuit Andrew had fallen back to the 10th position, but finding the groove back on the bottom side of the speedway he began battling with the No. 49 of fellow MB Custom driver Jake Timm for the 9th spot. The two traded off the position five times in the 30 lap run to the finish where the All Makes Collision Center , Certified Transmission , Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53 finally gained the edge for good with nine laps to go.
