Kosiski Charges Through The Field, DNF’s at Lakeside
Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 traveled to the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City Friday night for the third night of the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series season. After a strong qualifying effort and struggling in the heat race, AK put on a show in the feature event, to only have it end short past half way. (Todd Boyd photo)
Qualifying time trials seen the All Makes Collision Center , Certified Transmission , Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53 lay down the fourth fastest lap with a time of 17.603 seconds. With the invert this would line Andrew up on the inside of row three in the 8 lap heat race event. With a stacked heat race Kosiski lost one spot finishing sixth, thus lining him up in the seventh row for the $3000 to win A main.
Starting 13th on the grid Andrew was glued to the bottom of the speedway early and his Mars Race Cars chassis found the traction. Charging through the field Kosiski made his way to the 4th position around the half way point when disaster struck in the form of a infield tractor tire in the middle of turn one and two.
“I was using the hole the entire race to get around there and it was working real well. Just hit it wrong and it shot me towards the tire and I clipped it.”
Andrew was credited with a 18th place finish.
