Kosiski Takes Home 4th Place Finish at Ben Nothdurft Memorial
Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 made a last minute decision to head to the Huset's Speedway for the $6,000 to win Ben Nothdurft Memorial race Monday night. This was Kosiski’s first start of the year with the Tri-State Late Model Series and after the checkers flew on the 40 lap feature he came home with a top five finish. (Todd Boyd photo)
Qualifying time trials seen the All Makes Collision Center, Certified Transmission, Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53 lay down the second fastest lap in group B with a time of 14.412 seconds which was also good for the second fastest time overall. AK started on the pole of the fifth heat race where he led all 8 laps in route to victory. Pulling the number two pill, Andrew would start outside front row of the main event.
At the drop of the green Kosiski hung tight with pole sitter Tad Pospisil for the opening circuit, but by lap three the inside lane was the place to be as the No. 04 pulled away and the No. 7x of Jesse Glenz went by as well. Andrew tucked into line and ran third for the first half of the race until the caution flew for the first time just past the halfway point. The race would see a plague of yellow flags over the next few laps, but Andrew finally was able to nail a restart on lap 26 and get back around Glenz on the top side. The caution came out once again on lap 29, and this time Kosiski chose the top which turned out costly as Glenz took the spot back on the restart. The last ten laps of the race Andrew struggled to get the car to turn, giving up time to the leaders he was passed by Justin Zeitner with three laps to go for third and ended the night in the 4th position.
