Kosiski Battles For 9th Place Finish at Davenport
Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 made the trip across Iowa Saturday night to the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds for the third and final Hoker Trucking LLC Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series event of the season on the 1/4 mile at Davenport Speedway. Kosiski put in work as the feature went 40 laps non stop, and at the end of the night he took home a 9th place finish. (Mike Ruefer photo)
Qualifying time trials seen Andrew lay down the 7th fastest lap with a time of 15.199 seconds. Starting third row inside of his heat race AK didn’t advance any positions finishing in the 5th position. Between qualifying and heat race points Kosiski was set to line up fifth row outside in the 40 lap main event.
Corner one, lap one seen Andrew lose a few spots as Chad Simpson shot the gap entering the corner. Kosiski stuck to the outside lane and would work the edge of the banking as he battled with 8th place starter Dave Eckrich in the opening laps. The All Makes Collision Center , Certified Transmission , Kosiski Auto Parts, Super Clean No. 53 tried the high lane and low lane but couldn’t catch a break getting around Eckrich’s No. 58. After a couple of slide jobs, Andrew finally got a good enough run off of turn two to clear Eckrich on lap 16 and set sail for 9th place runner Justin Kay. Kosiski caught Kay quickly as the top lane of the track became the preferred groove; Andrew tried the middle lane of the speedway to get along side of Kay but would have to fall back in line as he was receiving pressure from the No. 29 of Spencer Diercks. In the closing laps AK would get along side of Kay but couldn’t complete the pass coming across the line in the 10th position. After a disqualification Kosiski was credited with a 9th place finish.
